“If we can share our story with someone who responds with empathy and understanding, shame can’t survive”
Brene Brown, PhD, LMSW

Our Mission
We provide equitable, compassionate, and individualized care to help individuals achieve optimal levels of mental health and wellness across the lifespan (ages 6+). We EMPOWER children, adolescents, and adults to get their lives back. We meet each client where they are at and do so with deep compassion and kindness. At Bennett Mental Health and Wellness we foster a culture of respect, support, and collaboration to help our clients achieve mental wellness and improve the quality of their lives. We seek to empower you regardless of your age, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, disability, or language. Our psychiatric practice embraces a neuroaffirming approach, providing individualized, strengths-based care that respects and supports individuals on the autism spectrum. This is an ADHD-affirming practice where we practice evidence based medicine in the treatment of ADHD and do not gatekeep the diagnosis and treatment of ADHD.
Our Vision
We ascribe to a wellness rather than “illness” paradigm at Bennett Mental Health and Wellness for children, adolescents, and adults. At Bennett Mental Health and Wellness our focus is much more on what is RIGHT with you far more than what is “wrong” with you. An individual cannot live their best life if they are not getting their needs met and they are not functioning from an optimal place of wholeness. Anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, OCD, PTSD, psychotic disorders, dissociative disorders, substance use disorders, etc make even the most basic of tasks overwhelming and create a sense of failure. We foster a strengths-based perspective so that you can see your suffering as merely one aspect of your human experience and you do not use it to define you. You are not alone. You deserve a life filled with happiness and joy. We can partner with you so that you can achieve a life that you feel is worth living. There is hope!

Our Services
We provide individualized treatment for anxiety, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, ADHD, trauma/PTSD, insomnia, dissociative disorders and addiction. In the treatment of addiction we utilize Vivitrol, Antabuse, Campral, and non-opioid substitution therapies. For individuals who are seeking suboxone/methadone, we work to refer to our referral partners within the community. We gladly offer pharmacogenomic testing to our clients who have experienced treatment resistance so that we can best ascertain which medication regimen is most likely to be beneficial. Genesight is our preferred pharmacogenomic test. For individuals seeking evaluation and treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorder, we have a partnership with another agency in town that performs the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule and we provide interpretation of the results and provide a corresponding diagnosis of ASD. We offer in person AND telemedicine appointments. We can get new patients in for initial appointments within two weeks.

Insurances Accepted
Maryland Medicaid, Medicare, BCBS, Johns Hopkins, United Healthcare/Optum, Aetna, and Cigna, Humana, Tricare, and Magellan. If we do not accept your insurance, you are free to seek services with us on a cash basis. An initial psychiatric evaluation is $350, and follow-up appointments are $175 each.
